Winter Holiday And Food Programme ( HAF)

HAF is a free and exciting holiday programme for children and young people aged 5 to 16 who are eligible for benefit related free school meals. The programme runs over the Easter (1 week), summer(4 weeks) and Christmas(1 week) school holidays and is funded by the Department for Education (DfE).

We are proud to work with a variety of providers to develop an exciting and enriching programme of activities. Our providers include schools, local voluntary and community groups, childcare providers and local businesses.

Find out if your child is eligible.

How to register for the HAF progamme

You can register throughout the year for the HAF progamme. Each eligible child should have received a letter with a unique code and information about how to register. To register each child you will need their unique code (at the top of the letter). If you haven't had a letter, you can email us. You only need to register once for the 2022 programme, and you can access your account throughout the year.

You'll be able to book your winter holiday activities from Tuesday 1 November 2022. Log into your HAF account to book.

    Winter holiday activities

Each week over the winter holiday your child will be able choose from:

    • 1 holiday club (4 hours per day over 4 days a week) - providing a range of activities throughout each day with a healthy meal included, or
    • 4 pick and mix sessions - providing a choice of activities for young people that give them opportunities to learn specific skills. They include courses in dance, music, swimming, sports coaching, youth work training,  mentoring, trips, SEND specific sessions, family activities and lots more

    Harry Potter Competition

    Closing date 14th October

To celebrate the opening of Professor Sprout’s greenhouse, Harry Potter Studios are giving away a magical prize including:

    • Studio Tour tickets for a group of up to 40 students and 8 adults
    • An exclusive lesson inside the greenhouse set
    • A copy of the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets book for each student, provided by Bloomsbury
    • Artwork of the winning entry created by Harry Potter storyboard artist Nick Pelham
    • A goodie bag for the lead teacher
    • Free return travel

    HOW TO ENTER

To be in with a chance of winning, we’re challenging students to get creative and imagine their own magical plant creation, using Professor Sprout’s greenhouse as inspiration. Try reading the start of Chapter Six of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and watching this clip from the film to get you started. This is where Harry first discovers Greenhouse Three and the magical plants that live inside. Using the descriptions in the book and the scene from the film as inspiration, challenge students to think about what their own magical plant would look like, what properties it would have and how it might be useful.

Submissions can be in any format, whether that’s a piece of writing, a drawing, or a physical object! Bring your entry into school so your teacher can take a photo or scan of your work and submit using the entry form below. Submissions are welcome from students of all ages up to 19 years old and the winning entry will be selected based on creativity and imagination.
