Parents in the UK have the legal right to withdraw their children from all or part of Religious Education (RE) lessons and collective worship, as set out in the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, section 71(1). Parents do not need to provide a reason for this request but we would always recommend that you contact the headteachers first, so that we can discuss your concerns.

You cannot legally withdraw your children from the statutory parts of RSE. Legally, you can withdraw them from non- statutory sex education lessons. However, we do not teach non- statutory sex education lessons at Palfrey Junior School.
